VIEW OF THE GUAÍBA RIVER WITHOUT THE MAUÁ WALL
site-specific installation | wall, security camera and projector
.
The Guaíba River, located in Porto Alegre, southern Brazil, is part of one of the largest hydrographic basins in the country. However, a wall built along Mauá Avenue in the 1940s to supposedly protect us from floods actually deprives us of this sight and contact with our waters. In this work, a security camera is installed on the Mauá wall and the video images are transmitted and projected in real time on a wall built inside the museum, thus revealing the view – the famous sunset – which is a privilege of who lives on the top floors of the historic downtown buildings.
